OEA has a reactive double bond and a hydroxyl group at the endpoints of its long alkyl chain. It is used as a building block for fragrances, agrochemicals, and pharmaceutical intermeidates, as well as a raw material for silane coupling agents and as a polarization modifier for polyolefins.
