1,7-Octadiene 1,7-ODE

CAS No. 3710-30-3ODE structural formula

Polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) are among the most widely used polyolefin-based plastics in the world. They are essential materials for a broad range of applications, from packaging to medical technology. Kuraray’s 1,7-ODE (1,7-octadiene) is highly regarded as a key material for further enhancing the performance of polyolefins.

Application

Crosslinking Agent

1,7-ODE is a liquid hydrocarbon with two double bonds in its unsaturated aliphatic structure. These bonds allow 1,7-ODE to be used as a crosslinking agent for polymers, improving the mechanical strength and chemical resistance of the final product. Furthermore, by introducing functional groups that enhance compatibility and adhesion with highly polar materials, it significantly improves the performance of polyolefins. In addition to polyolefins, it is also effective as a crosslinking agent for ion-exchange resins.

Intermediate

It can also be utilized as an intermediate for fine chemicals. Its high reactivity enables it to meet a wide range of applications.
