OEA has a reactive double bond and a hydroxyl group at the endpoints of its long alkyl chain. It is used as a building block for fragrances, agrochemicals, and pharmaceutical intermediates, as well as a raw material for silane coupling agents and as a polarization modifier for polyolefins.

OEA is used as a component (building block) in macrocyclic musk fragrances and insect pheromones.

Polarization of polyolefin

Introducing polarity, enhances compatibility and adhesion to highly polar materials. This will further improve the product performances.
